BOARD OF SELECTMEN

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING

MINUTES

Present:  George F. Dillon, Jr., Chair; Robert W. Nordblom, Clerk; Peter S. Cunningham, Member; Mihran Keoseian, Member; Jean E. Kitchen, Administrative Assistant; and Kathleen Newell, Office Assistant

Absent:  John L. Saball, Vice Chair

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m.

 

One-Day Liquor License for All Alcohol and Auctioneer License

Mr. Cunningham moved to approve a One-Day Liquor License for All Alcohol for Linda Deasy on behalf of Lawrence Academy on Saturday, April 29, 2006 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Seconded by Mr. Nordblom.   Unanimous vote.

 

Mr. Cunningham moved to approve an Auctioneer License for James McCloy for the Bi-Annual Scholarship Auction for Lawrence Academy on Saturday, April 29, 2006, to be held at the Gray Building, Lawrence Academy, Powderhouse Road, license to expire on April 29, 2006.

 

Town Meeting Articles

Board of Selectmen differs with the Finance Committee on the Groton Water protectors.  The Finance Committee had level funded and the Board of Selectmen was higher.

 

Young Adult Librarian

  • Mr. Nordblom would like to wait until fall.
  • Mr. Dillon could not vote for this position.
    • .Program in effect now.
    • This position could occur without the need for additional funding if there was a reallocation of resources.
    • Finance Committee and Board of Selectmen agreed on budget guidelines and this position is outside.
    • The Board of Selectmen prioritized positions, and this was not a priority.

It was agreed that Mr. Saball would propose an amendment on Town Meeting floor to reduce the Library budget to remove funding for the Young Adult Librarian position.

 

The Board recessed to Annual Town Meeting at 6:45 p.m.
